James H. (“Jim”) Wilson is a principal at Ingress Investments, a private investment company focused on B2B services and technology, commercial real estate and hospitality and dining. In 2015, Ingress successfully liquidated its portfolio in Houston, Texas, and Jim permanently relocated to Southwest Missouri in January 2017. Jim recently sold Best of Luck Beer Hall, a restaurant and craft beer concept located in downtown Springfield and, together with his wife, purchased 50% of The Coffee Ethic, a specialty coffee shop and wholesale roaster. The Coffee Ethic is also located in downtown Springfield.
Prior to founding Ingress, Jim was a business lawyer of over 20 years (over 16 years with Vinson & Elkins LLP). His practice focused on corporate finance and securities, with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions and public offerings. Jim counseled clients in connection with well over 100 domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, transactions of all types including several dozen public company mergers, hostile and negotiated tender offers, “going private” transactions and spin-offs. His international experience included Brazil, China, Egypt, Italy, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Mexico, Nicaragua, Spain, The Netherlands and the U.K. He also represented the issuer or the underwriters in over 50 initial and secondary public offerings of all types of securities, including common stock, convertible securities, investment grade and high yield senior and senior subordinated debt, master limited partnership units and royalty trust units. He also has extensive experience in the private equity sector. Jim has been listed as a leader in mergers and acquisitions in Chambers USA and has been recognized as a “Texas Rising Star” as well as a “Texas Super Lawyer” by Texas Monthly. He has also been listed as a leader in international mergers and acquisitions by The Legal 500.
Jim graduated cum laude from Missouri State University, BS, major-Accounting, additional emphasis in Computer Information Services and cum laude with his JD from the University of Houston Law Center. Jim is very active as an alumnus at Missouri State University, serving on multiple boards and with the Zeta Chi Chapter at MSU. He is also a member of the Rotary Club of Springfield Southeast.
