VP, Talent Development, McCownGordon Construction

Emily Brown is the Vice President, Talent Development for McCownGordon Construction in Kansas City, Missouri. With an emphasis on construction excellence and professional development, Emily works with McCownGordon associates across the Midwest to ensure they have relevant, timely, and engaging learning opportunities to continue building their technical, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

In addition to leading the learning and development strategies at McCownGordon, Emily established the company’s collegiate internship program, where her passion for connecting with and developing the next generation of construction industry talent shines through.

Emily started her career at JE Dunn Construction as a project manager, where she was responsible for overseeing construction projects up to $50 million. After moving to McCownGordon, Emily led the healthcare construction market before shifting her focus to talent development in 2015.

An experienced board member, Emily is the former board chairperson of the Pittsburg State University College of Construction Advisory Council and the current chairperson of the Construction Industry Resource and Training Network. She has also dedicated service as a board member for a variety of community organizations, including KU Med Friendship Inn and Kansas City Crime Commission.

Emily earned her Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Pittsburg State University in 2001. She received a master's degree in Adult Learning from Kansas State University in 2021, as well as coaching certificates from the Association of Talent Development and Integrative Enneagram.
